ANZ Clean Freight Council joins MegaTrans to make freight emissions count

MegaTrans is proud to announce the ANZ Clean Freight Council as an Association Partner, strengthening the event’s focus on the practical challenges facing Australia’s freight and logistics sector as the industry works towards a lower-emissions future.

Taking place on 16–17 September 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, MegaTrans brings together the people shaping the future of freight, including transport operators, shippers, ports, technology providers and supply chain professionals.

The partnership with ANZ Clean Freight Council will provide MegaTrans attendees with greater insight into freight emissions measurement, reporting and the practical steps businesses can take to better understand and manage their supply chain emissions.

ANZ Clean Freight Council Founder and Executive Director Michael Blake said the partnership reflects the breadth of organisations and industries represented at MegaTrans.

“MegaTrans puts the entire freight chain in one room – shippers, carriers, ports, technology, energy. That’s exactly the group that needs to be talking to each other if this transition is going to move, and it’s the same coverage the council recognises in its cohort,” Blake said.

With mandatory climate-related reporting requirements expanding in Australia, businesses across the supply chain are facing growing pressure to understand and report emissions associated with their operations and supply chains.

Blake said the sector still has a significant capability gap when it comes to producing reliable emissions data.

“From 2028, thousands of Australian companies will have to report the emissions sitting in their supply chains. Right now, about 5 per cent of road freight operators can produce those numbers confidently, accurately and compliant,” he said.

“That’s the gap our members are working on, and MegaTrans puts them face to face with the people they buy freight from and sell freight to.”

Prime Creative Media Head of Marketing – Events Molly Hancock said the partnership adds an important practical perspective to the MegaTrans program.

“The freight industry is under increasing pressure to make meaningful progress on emissions, but the conversation needs to move beyond broad targets and into practical action. ANZ Clean Freight Council brings a valuable focus on what businesses can actually measure, report and improve.”

Hancock said the partnership aligns closely with MegaTrans’ aim of connecting the different parts of the freight ecosystem.

“MegaTrans is designed to bring the industry together around the issues that will shape the future of freight. Having ANZ Clean Freight Council involved gives attendees the opportunity to engage with the practical side of emissions reporting while connecting with the organisations that will ultimately drive change across the supply chain,” she said.

For Blake, the council’s involvement is not about promoting one particular technology or fuel pathway. Instead, it is about helping businesses understand the fundamentals of freight emissions and what they can do with that information.

“We’re not backing a winning fuel or technology – that’s not our job. What we’ll bring to MegaTrans is the practical end: how freight emissions are actually measured, what holds up under audit, and what an operator can do about it on Monday morning,” Blake said.

“If people walk away with one thing, I’d like it to be that this is countable work, not another ambition statement.”

The partnership reinforces MegaTrans’ position as a meeting point for the freight and supply chain industry, where businesses can explore the technologies, strategies and partnerships needed to respond to a rapidly changing operating environment.
