Allotrac.io has made Automated Workers available, enabling transport and logistics businesses to automate defined operational and administrative processes from reconciling dockets and weighbridge statements to confirming delivery information with customers.
The new capability extends Allie, Allotrac.io’s conversational AI assistant, beyond responding to individual requests. Automated Workers operate proactively in the background, carrying out specific responsibilities when triggered by an event, communication or schedule.
Together, Allie and Automated Workers form part of Allotrac.io’s approach to practical AI: technology designed to reduce repetitive administration, address operational bottlenecks and give transport teams more time to focus on customers and higher-value work.

Allotrac CEO and Co-founder Joel Kotamanidis said AI must deliver tangible value to transport businesses rather than being adopted for its own sake.
“AI is not here to replace people. It is here to take on the mundane, repetitive tasks that consume time without adding value to the bottom line, allowing people to focus on the work that supports customers and drives the business forward,” Kotamanidis said.
Operational intelligence on demand
Allie allows users to interact with their operational data using natural language. Instead of navigating multiple screens or relying solely on a fixed set of standard reports, users can ask questions and receive relevant information and insights on demand. This could include comparing current truck or yard waiting times with historical averages, producing an end-of-day summary of completed jobs and tonnes moved, reviewing previous rates or identifying where delays and bottlenecks are occurring.
Allie can also assist with everyday administration. A user could ask it to locate multiple signed Proof of Delivery documents, combine them into a single file and email them to the required recipient, completing in one request a task that would otherwise involve several manual steps.
For businesses using dedicated business intelligence platforms, relevant operational data can also be made available through integrations or APIs, allowing them to continue reporting through their preferred internal systems.
From answers to action
Automated Workers take these capabilities from responding to a request to acting when a defined event occurs.
A business can assign each worker a specific role, provide detailed instructions and determine the information it can access and the actions it can perform. The worker can then be triggered by a scheduled time, an incoming email, SMS or phone call, a job-status change, the creation of a new docket or another defined operational event.
“Allie can help a user find information or complete a task when asked. Automated Workers take that a step further by working in the background, responding to defined events and carrying out specific processes within the controls set by the business,” Kotamanidis said.
One practical application is docket reconciliation. An Automated Worker can compare job information captured through the Allotrac.io driver application with an uploaded digital docket or information extracted from a scanned paper docket using optical character recognition.
Where the information matches, the worker can progress the process in accordance with its instructions. If it identifies missing information, a discrepancy or another anomaly, it can direct the exception to the appropriate team member for review. This reduces the need for staff to manually check every docket while keeping people involved where their attention and judgement are required.
The same approach can be applied to weighbridge statement reconciliation. An Automated Worker can receive the statement, extract the relevant information and compare it with job data held in Allotrac.io before confirming a successful match or flagging a discrepancy for review.
Automated Workers can also support customer communication. A worker triggered by a job update could call a customer to confirm delivery details, record a corrected address or delivery instruction, and update the permitted information within Allotrac.io.
Depending on its assigned role, a worker can interact through email, SMS or natural voice calls. It can also connect with external business systems, including through Model Context Protocol connections, allowing it to support workflows that extend beyond Allotrac.io.
Automation with operational oversight
Control and accountability remain central to the way Automated Workers operate. Allotrac.io reviews a worker’s instructions and recommends only the permissions required for its role, explaining why each permission is needed before the worker is enabled. Businesses retain control over the information a worker can access and the actions it is authorised to perform, with additional usage and call-duration limits available where required.
Every execution is recorded, including the actions taken, the systems accessed and whether the process succeeded. For voice calls, this can include a transcript of the conversation. These records provide an audit trail of the worker’s actions, outcomes and communications, allowing businesses to review their performance and refine their configuration over time. The result is an approach to AI centred on defined responsibilities, controlled access and human oversight, rather than giving an unrestricted system access to an entire operation.
