Andrew Newman is Executive Director at Freight Victoria within the Department of Transport and Planning. Andrew brings more than 20 years of experience across freight, ports, logistics and Victorian Government transport policy. Since beginning his career in Ports and Marine, Andrew has built deep expertise across Victoria’s freight ecosystem and a strong reputation for leadership and trusted stakeholder relationships. Andrew held a previous role as Director, Policy and Strategy within Freight Victoria. His extensive departmental experience and sector knowledge position him well to lead Freight Victoria and continue delivering outcomes for Victoria’s freight and logistics sector. Andrew will focus on the continued implementing implementation of the Victorian Freight Plan and Commercial Ports Strategy. Other roles include leading the Office of Suburban Development’s policy function and Policy Principal at Jacobs where he led urban and transportation planning functions. Andrew also held senior executive roles in transport network planning freight logistics across Victorian Government. Andrew holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from the University of Melbourne and degrees in arts and commerce.
